Jesus Christ loves kids, and so do we.
Temple Baptist seeks to reach the spiritual needs of the future church in many different venues: the wonderful Awana program, children's church, children's choirs, Vacation Bible School (one week, each summer), children's Wednesday night Bible story (all summer) and a week long summer junior camp to Anchorage Bible Camp in eastern North Carolina.
On Wednesday evenings during the school year our Awana club meets at 7:00 p.m. in the gym for an exciting time (3 year olds to sixth grade). The children learn Bible verses, play games, and increase their knowledge of God in a carefully supervised environment. Kids are rewarded for their hard work each night and also, at the end of the year in an awards ceremony. It's fun... but with a purpose. But there's more. Each fall, there is a special AWANA game night with games, prizes, and treats. In the spring, there is the annual Grand Prix, where children compete with wooden racing cars with prizes for design and speed based on age/gender grouping. There are also some overnight "lock-in" activities during the year, too.
Each Sunday, children are grounded in God's Word. 3 year olds - Room 181, 4 year olds - Room 180, 5 year olds - Room 179, first graders - Room 177, second graders - Room 280, third and fourth graders - Room 281, fifth and sixth graders - Room 282. (Grades 7 -12 meet in the Teen Room)
During our Sunday morning services., children from 3 years old through 3rd grade meet for an exciting children's church service. There are Bible stories, songs, games, crafts, and snacks.
On Sunday evenings, throughout the year we have a variety of childrens choirs that sing during the service. Parents love this and from all appearances, the kids seem to think it's pretty sweet, too. (The three year old choir is worth paying to hear.)
SUMMER JUNIOR CAMP
For one week of fun, our junior campers travel to Camp Anchorage, a beautiful Christian camp located on a lake in eastern North Carolina. Bible camp is a fantastic experience for the junior-aged kids. A week away in a beautiful natural setting, far from gadgets, TV, internet and the mall is actually a good thing.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Each summer TBC puts on an exciting week-long VBS program, directed by Branden Lawrence, our assistant pastor (music). A week of Bible saturated and fun-filled activities comes to an end on a Friday night with a special carnival complete with some awesome inflatable "rides" in the gym. VBS? It's pretty cool. It's part outreach, part edification.
